Where are all the people?

P1010722|03-NOV-2014|First up today: Akershus Fortress. Again, we had the place to ourselves.  Yesterday was dead everywhere but most things are closed on Sunday and the weather was bad so I can get why people stayed in. Today, the weather isn’t much better, but except for people going to work, we didn’t see many people out.  We stopped into Tanum, a huge bookstore on the main shopping street. Jeff found a couple of music books and I stocked up on Moomin items. 🙂  We dropped off the haul at the hotel and took off for Gamle Aker Kieke, a medieval church near Mathallen that we missed yesterday. Unfortunately on the walk over the skies broke open and the deluge began. We were soaked. Snapped a hasty picture of the church then made our way to Mathallen for a break only to find it closed. We speed-walked our way back to our hotel with a quick stop at Deli De Luca for sandwiches for lunch.

Due to the weather, and now soaked outwear, we hung out in our room listening to music, reading and knitting. We did get updates from Tristen, Andy and Norberto – Andy and Tristen are on the move toward Iceland and Berto leaves Seattle this afternoon. Soooo close now!

The compound of Akershus Fortress, perched on the hill above the harbor for over 700 years. Apart from some deliveries, a few construction workers and three honor guardsmen, we had the grounds to ourselves.

Gamle Aker Kirke – part of the fuzziness is water on my camera lens and the rest is the rain.

The Norwegians are soooo done with Halloween and have wasted no time moving on to Christmas. God Jul!

Stapled to the side of a nearby venue – actually a whole row of them.  This one might have gone missing …. it might show up in Seattle. Who knows? I’m just speculating …. 😉
