Gorgeous sunny day and getting an early start definitely pays off when visiting “tourist” locations. We took a 15 minute ferry ride to Suomenlinna to check out the island and fortress.
Länsi Mustasaari, one of the 8 islands of Suomenlinna. Built in the Swedish era in the mid-18th century, it is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Returned back to the Helsinki harbor in time for lunch from the open market. Lunch from the street vendors at the outdoor market: reindeer meatballs with scallop potatoes and fried herring with rice.![]() ![]() |
