More Angry Birds and a Boat Ride

| 20-May-2012 | Visual evidence of the previously mentioned Angry Birds soda – I’m pretty sure we don’t have this at home! No, I didn’t try it; wonder how it would be as a mixer?

Helsinki Cathedral, built in the mid-1800’s. The statues of the Apostles on the roof are the largest set of zinc sculptures in the world.
Gorgeous sunny day and getting an early start definitely pays off when visiting “tourist” locations. We took a 15 minute ferry ride to Suomenlinna to check out the island and fortress.

Länsi Mustasaari, one of the 8 islands of Suomenlinna. Built in the Swedish era in the mid-18th century, it is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Returned back to the Helsinki harbor in time for lunch from the open market. Lunch from the street vendors at the outdoor market: reindeer meatballs with scallop potatoes and fried herring with rice.

More hockey fans at the hotel. Yes, those are bear suits.

Mmmmm … mango-melon gelato!

Tomorrow …. barring any overnight shifts in weather, we’re off to Tallinn on the high-speed ferry!
