Today we took the bus to Porvoo, about 50 km east of Helsinki. It’s Finland’s second oldest city, founded in the 13th century. We arrived early and had much of the old town to ourselves as shopkeepers opened their doors and set up their colorful store-fronts. And more cobblestone streets.

After returning from Porvoo, we went to get gelato to “use up” some Euro coins before departing for Stockholm tomorrow.

While enjoying our treats, we were entertained by police and fire personnel responding to a call at a nearby building. Four police cars, four fire engines (including two ladders) and yards of police tape for what appeared to be nothing. Handled with Scandinavian efficiency, though.
