Arrivederci, Roma!
| 19-Mar-2024 | Today is our last full day in Rome. We left the apartment with a loose plan of shopping and wandering.
Found the remains of an ancient aqueduct behind a cafe – that was cool.
And epic churches continued today – let’s have a look …
Basilica di Sant’ Andrea delle Fratte – 17th century, with work by Bernini
Basilica del SS. Ambrose e Carlo al Corso – 17th century, includes a vessel with the heart of Carlos Borromeo. Yes, an actual heart.
Basilica di Santa Maria sopra Minerva – medieval Roman Gothic dating back to 1280, includes the tomb of Saint Catherine of Siena.
We wrapped up our Rome experience with gelato and a casual dinner of cheese and salami in the apartment, We have a stupid-early pick up tomorrow to start our journey home. Maybe we’ll see you again, Rome, ciao!
