| 03-Nov-2023 | Hosted a few friends at the apartment this morning for brunch of pastries, coffee, and of course, mimosas. It was nice to spend some time with friends I rarely get to see in person, and introduce Ang and Jenn to the RVK “family”. I loved seeing them all at Lucky Records later,  chatting up their post-brunch activities like old friends.

 

 

 

 

 

We caught up with the extended Airwaves crew at Lucky to see our friends, Revenge of Calculon, tear it up with another blast of funky goodness. It’s impossible to come away from this show not grinning and totally jazzed. Love this whole crew – good people.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Posted up at Gaukurinn tonight – we’ve spent many an Airwaves night  leaning up against the sound board here. The sound system got an upgrade a few years ago but the horrible red lighting is unfortunately still going strong. Between the lighting and how compressed the performance space is, it’s nearly impossible to get decent pictures here. Monikaze gave us 40 minutes of solid, though chaotic, techno. Followed by, Donkey Kid from Berlin.

Called it a night early – not particularly inclined to wade through a couple more hours to get to the better known artists on tonight’s card. An upside to having the opportunity to come back to Airwaves so many times is that I don’t feel compelled to see all the things and run each day alike a 24 hour sprint.

The weather is holding clear and coLd, but I haven’t seen the northern lights from the city yet. Maybe tomorrow.
