Airwaves is more than music

| 05-Nov-2022 | Another day with a light agenda. After coffee and crusty rolls with ham and cheese (natch), we kicked it on the couch until it was time for lunch.

We decided to check out new-to-us Yuzu Burger since that’s kind of our thing. Great little spot with interesting menu options and several nice Asian style beers. Winning.

Fortified, we headed over to our home-away-from-home-away-from-home, Lucky Records, to catch a quick set by Cell 7. She killed it! We’ve see Ragna several times but never has she projected so much confidence. Girlfriend was fierce!

From Lucky it was back to the flat for a low key dinner of pasta.

After dinner it was back out, this time to the Iceland Airwaves centre to check out Post-Performance Blues Band. Not completely sure what to expect, it was avant-garde performance art with variety of vocal styles layered over some pretty legit techno beats. THIS is exactly what Airwaves is about!

Headed out again later to see Revenge of Calculon for their second off-venue, this time at Sirkus . A legendary RVK night club, Sirkus only recently reopened after a long hiatus so we were curious to see the space. It’s also an Indian restaurant – go figure. The guys killed it again in front of a small, but enthusiastic crowd. Super fun!

Still batting winter-cold-hangover, we called it a night after Calculon.

Amazing to be out in the world again and seeing the crew from Edinburgh and the UK, Ingvar and gang at Lucky, Leana, and DJ Kevin. Missed Matt and Tanya, but hopefully we can make up to Vancouver now that border crossing has returned to normal,

Side note: Best. Weather. Ever.

Takk Reykjavik – until next time.
