| 27-Aug-2009 | We headed out early this morning to check out the sculpture garden at the Rijksmuseum. Unfortunately, there was construction on the grounds and we didn’t get to see anything cool. Since the Van Gogh Museum didn’t open until 10am we made our way back to city center to check out the Bloemenmarkt. Not what I expected – lots of cactus, cannabis seeds and tulip bulbs; only one stall had exclusively fresh cut flowers. After the flower market we stopped for pastry – warm apple turnover. Mmmmm! Sorry, we scarfed it down so fast I forgot to take a picture!
From there we trekked back across town to hunt down some music stores. While I didn’t find anything from my wish list, I acquired a couple of sweet Dutch techno discs. 🙂 We ducked back into the B&B to wait out some rain then headed back to city center to find lunch, some Cuban cigars and several other shops of interest. |
Took a few pictures on our stroll last night. This is a street near our B&B.

Navigating this city is no easy task – between trying not to get killed by cyclists and scooters on the bike paths AND sidewalks, trying to figure out the right-of-way lights at intersections, and random groups of drunk and/or stoned people, this place keeps you on your toes! |

Tomorrow we’re taking the train here: Naarden. This satellite view is fascinating so we’re going to go see what it’s all about.
