Dark Wave Goth Minimal Synth Experimental Art Rock
| 25-May-2012| That’s a section header from one of today’s record shops. Is having your record in that bin better or worse than “Miscellaneous (Letter)”?
Left the apartment stupid-early this morning. The city was bustling with commuters on foot and bicycle. We walked through Galma Stan again and looked at the shop windows. We crossed over to Riddarholmen and then Kungsholen to take in a few sites as we weaved our way uptown to the street for record shops: St. Eriksgatan. First stop was Trash Palace, specializing in metal and punk. The haul there was pretty good (see below); we popped into a few other shops but didn’t add to the collection. |
Riddarholmskyrkan, built by Franciscan monks in the late 13th century, has been the final resting place of Swedish monarchs since 1632. |
Funky phone booth on Gamla Stan. There’s actually a pay phone it it! Remember pay phones (hahahahahaha)? |
Coffee break! |
Bagel sandwiches at Bagel Street Café. Jeff had salami and cheese, I had veggie. Mmmmm! Side note: Coke Light from the bottle far less weird-tasting than from the can. |
The haul from Trash Palace: punk, ska, Seattle grunge (seriously!) and new wave. |
Fried eggplant – the appetizer from tonight’s dinner at Esperia, a Greek restaurant in Södermalm. The entrees were amazing. |
Shrimp …. as a paste. In a tube. No joke – it’s heavily advertised. This billboard was in the train station. |
Oh yes, that’s exactly what it looks like: a band button circa 1985. A-Ha is from Norway, not Sweden, but that didn’t stop me from rummaging through the button box at Trash Palace in hopes of finding one. |
